"I think I love you."
I remember the day we promised to be friends forever, I remember the irony, somehow the sourness of my heart is still there- you knew I loved you, D.
It was Christmas eve, we went out for gift shopping. I remember carrying all the bags for you, my arms were sore, but it didn't matter: as long as you were happy. As we stopped by the big christmas tree in the center of town, I stared at you, mesmerized by your beauty, and that sparkle in your eyes as you beamed at the tree.
"Earth to Ryan! Earth to Ryan!" You had said as you poked me on the arm. Somehow my mind had gotten blow away.
"Yeah?" I said, smiling. I loved her.
"Promise me something."
"What?"
"That you'll be my friend forever."
I forced a smile, and nodded. It was impossible for me to say no to you, ever. My heart screamed, I slapped myself mentally. I loved you, D, and I was really sure you knew that.
------
I was never afraid of death, I know it'd come one day for everyone. Each time I think about dying, it was only you I was worried about. I'd never want to leave you. D, do you remember the days we'd sit in Macdonals the whole day just talking and staring at each other? Do you remember the 23rd thing you've ever said to me? I do. I remember every bit of memory with you.I blocked out the sound of people rushing and doctors giving instructions. All I could hear was the sound of your voice, all I could see was your smile, all I could think of, was you.
"Ryan.. Wake up. Wake up! Don't leave me! You promised!"
My mind cringed at the last sentence. Yes, I promised.. But I'd rather die than to live with you in someone else's arms.
"Ryan! sh*t you, you ass! Dammit, you just have to do this when I think I love you, don't you?" She screamed at my face.
That was all it took for me to wake up. She loved me.
